PARK SLOPE, NY Reginald Ferguson joins John Edmunds & Jordan Kalmowitz for interview on #EyesOnNJ News
Reginald Ferguson walks us through the timeline of events during his time at the Park Slope Food Coop from his start in the mid-1990s to 2017 when he was issued a suspension for 18-months for listening to music.
Reg explains how his October 2017 case was not thoroughly investigated, key witnesses not interviewed and disciplinary action taken without rebuttal from the accused. Reg was telephoned by a gentleman only known as “Curtis” representing the DRC. Curtis advised Reginald that he was relieved of duties for 18-months.
Reginald drafted an agenda item in Jan 2018 paving the way for right to due process for over 17,000 members which was passed by 51 votes. Reg tells us when he wrote to the DRC the following day under the new rule, he would like his case to be reviewed. The DRC responded that Reg’s incident took place in 2017 before the new rule went into effect rendering Reginald’s claim ineligible.
Reginald protested this act by continuing to work his Saturday morning shifts and maintaining his leadership role as Squad Leader. The DRC labeled this as “non-compliant” for his 18-month suspension. The DRC also claimed Reginald was endangering the membership status of other members and demonstrating uncooperative conduct.
The DRC later notified Reg he had two options, rescind his membership or participate in an arbitration. Reginald’s opinion is the arbitration was fixed as it was held the HOC and none of witness testimony supporting his claims were accepted into the record.
Reg tells #EyesOnNJ that Grace Protos of the DRC at a two general meetings lied claiming a thorough investigation had been conducted. Reg was the center of the investigation and was never interviewed.
Reginald started a Change.org petition which has collected 150 signatures.
