HILLSBOROUGH – Kyle Newell, owner of Newell Strength opened his gym in direct violation of Governor Murphy’s executive order.

Newell opened his gym at 4PM on Monday May 18 to be met with cheers from a large crowd of supporters in the parking lot.

Patrons lined up at the gym ingress following the 6′ markers on the floor ramp. Each visitor was required to have temperature taken and would be refused entry if too high.

Gym-goers were given a clean towel and sanitation spray bottle to wipe down equipment after each use and limited to a 40 minute workout session.

After the supporters dissipated, local police issued Kyle a summons to appear in court in early June.

Earlier that day, Atilis Gym in Bellmawr opened their doors at 8AM for members to workout with similar safety practices in place.

The following day on May 19, a bodybuilding client at Atilis Gym was arrested by police after completing his workout. As of this writing, Bellmawr Police have not provided a reason for the gentleman’s arrest.
