ROXBURY – Kiwanis Club of Greater Roxbury gives away free food to needy residents.

On Monday, Cain Pope of Roxbury & Frank Cahill of Parsippany hosted a free food giveaway for residents in need at Kiwanis Park in Roxbury, NJ.

Local police helped coordinate traffic and volunteers put 35-40 pound boxes of food in the trunks of needy residents. Local officials spoke at the press conference including:

Club Offers Help to Families With Food Insecurity During Pandemic

Kiwanis Club of Greater Roxbury is giving away 100 boxes of food to people suffering food insecurity during their drive-through Free Holiday Food Distribution on Monday, Dec. 21 from 10 – 11 a.m.  at Kiwanis Park, 9 Makin Lane, Succasunna.

Recipients must live in Roxbury, Ledgewood, Succasunna, Kenvil, Mount Arlington or Landing. All recipients must register in advance at Roxburykiwanis.org

Each box contains 35-40 pounds of canned food, fresh produce and other groceries.  Recipients will drive up to the distribution site where volunteers will put the food right in the vehicle.

Kiwanis Club of Greater Roxbury’s volunteers are committed to alleviating hunger in their community, one family at a time.

“We believe that by helping one child, you help the world,” club president Cain Pope said. “An estimated 48.8 million Americans, including 16.2 million children, live in households that lack the means to get enough nutritious food on a regular basis. As many as 1 in 4 kids could face hunger because of the coronavirus.”
